most of my physical and mental ailments all can be traced back to one main underlying cause –
I was very recently officially diagnosed with autism and ADHD.
Which means I have spent the first 29 years of my life struggling (unbeknownst to everybody, including myself!) being misunderstood and unsupported (medically, mentally, emotionally, etc.). I never felt like I fit in or belonged anywhere. Something about me always felt different. I was an outsider looking in. And then I did everything I could to contort and compress myself into being this person (I thought) everyone expected me to be.
Which then lead to me constant stress, crippling anxiety, depression, unhealthy coping mechanisms, self-hatred, social isolation, and shame.
But my story doesn’t end there… years (decades) of severe unchecked mental health issues and 24/7 stress in my brain and body not only compounded said mental health issues, it also started affecting my physical health (I didn’t weigh over 300lb just because I loved food lol). But it all came to a head this year when my brain and body both decided they had ENOUGH and I started having seizures.
My doctors and I have all been questioning why they even started happening (I have no family history, traumatic brain injury, or anything else that made sense), and it’s been a whirlwind trying to get to the bottom of this. I think I’ve had every possible scan/imaging/testing of my brain known to man done over the last few months. I’ve visited numerous doctors in both New Hampshire and now in Texas (including a “wholistic” doctor that ended up prescribing me Ozempic – which that is a WHOLE story for another day) but never got real/final answers for the cause.
Then a few weeks ago, the final puzzle piece into the hell that is my life was put into place and made everything else make sense – I was diagnosed with complex post traumatic stress disorder.
So that’s where I am at now, August 2026. Newly diagnosed with a bunch of new abbreviations and a long, long recovery road ahead of me. But I am optimistic and I want to take everyone along on this journey with me 🙂
So here we go!
